Move with intention. As if through sand. So much of life is missed in the moments in between. But that’s where life is happening. It’s never the big moments. Or the big changes. It’s the micro moments - the ones barely detectable unless you choose to be aware. Yesterday we lost a good friend. He died from lung cancer. He lived a life of service in the military and paid the price with his body. He lived with PTSD. Tim was my age. He loved life. He lived in the small things. I loved that about him. And at times I didn’t when I would become impatient. He helped us build @zoeconcept_shop. The sign over the stairs - he would say if the letters were moved together just 1/8th of an inch it would be perfect. He could dwell in details. He loved the details. I think when a light goes out in our lives, we have a responsibility to carry forward what we leaned from knowing this rare and special person. Rest in peace Tim. We will miss you. - Lynn and Merv

When yoga and wellness became a business it required marketing to fill studios and pay teachers. And I guess that’s necessary in this world.

It’s true that yoga teachers are highly underpaid if even paid for the hours of training and practice. And yes, untold hours. Personally I can’t count the teaching hours, the practicing hours and the learning hours. And then there are the healing hours and the planning hours. All that is necessary because when teaching, one needs to draw on her own practice and intrinsic knowledge of how a body behaves under pressure. Yoga meets the body where it is, and it puts pressure on the body to cultivate an eventual and sustainable difference. It changes the way we live, learn, teach, heal, and accept ourselves as we are in our best in the moment.

Sometimes the moment requires a little and sometimes a lot. After 14 years as a teacher and a practitioner of more than 55 years (my yoga practice began when I was a child, following #kareenzebroff on television hiding in my family home basement in front of the television) - my observation is that there is no Hatha, vinyasa, flow, etc. as these are just parts of the whole. There is only yoga. And yoga is beyond movement and marketing; it is just being.

My plan was never to be a yoga teacher or even have a studio outside of my home. My intention has only been to live as healthy a life as possible.

Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to eat a Hamburger from a fast food restaurant but the aftermath would be unimaginable. Food and movement and health is a package deal.

Life is challenging enough with all the sitting we do in our day to day lives, and the amount of toxicity entering our brains through our handheld devices . . .

But yes, I do teach yoga. Do I ask to be paid? Yes. $45 and hour, which is less than going to a movie or going out for a beer, or dinner. But it feeds your soul in a way you can’t quantify, because what you do to and with your body becomes your life.

We’ve reached warranty on the last 5 years. Our bodies are less healthy than they were before the world changed. You know what I am talking about. We went inside and stayed there, and forgot to come out. To come back to life. We live and work online. We even practice yoga online.

This year I created Inspiraré, a private and personal boutique yoga and movement studio which means “the breathe of life”. It also is the root word for inspiration. Inspiraré is a part of my business @zoeconcept_shop and my consulting business #LynearThinking. ZÖE means life. Lynear Thinking is about forward looking, helping leaders lead change. Change is hard. But it’s essential. There are no quick fixes, there is only the work. If you don’t make yourself a priority, you will feel that too.

You see an asana - cat cow, to floating table to find dog to forward fold. But it’s more than that. It’s the how that you will never see in a picture or video.
