Inspiraré: to inhale, to breathe in

Not knowing where you’re going is better than living in the past. Last year I found myself once again at the precipice - that place where one can no longer see the future in the present. It’s an uncomfortable feeling to be there, afraid and anxious, but unable to take the next step because it feels perilous. I wish I could tell you I know how to get past that place if you are there now. But what I can tell you is asking for help is the place to start. Recognizing that it’s the mind that needs to change before the body can follow. We live in our minds. That’s where we reside. And our minds can be an asset or a liability depending on how we care and feed it. What helped me immensely was taking the time to learn, to experience and to let go of those past stories, feelings and fears working with Heather Keys. I was able to see that life doesn’t have to be an “either - or”. Sometimes it’s an “and”. I thought I had to let go of my business. And I was right, and wrong. I did let go of my perception of the past COVID years and how it affected my mindset. I didn’t realize how affected I was by the barrage of garbage that filled our media and our minds. In that I found space. And a space to breathe. That place is Inspiraré. It reminds me to practice breathing and moving my body to make space in my mind for healthier and happier thoughts.

Saddle pose. This is my bliss. It might not be yours. There are many variations for every person’s needs. You may not express it the way I do, but that’s ok. The sensation is the same. Bernie Clark talks about levels of students. 1 - where the range of motion is limited. 2 - a little more range. 3 - like me. But the experience is the experience. A person once asked me - why do you bother when you have such a high range of motion. A yin practice focuses on opening fascia. Without Yin, I can’t imagine what my body would feel like.

Hi. It occurred to me tonight when I was wrangling with my new website that you might not know who I am. So here’s the answer to the question - who does she think she is.

My name is Lynn Armstrong. I have been helping bodies move since 2011 - 13 years as a Centergy instructor (similar to vinyasa yoga) in a gym environment and 12 years as a certified Hatha yoga teacher, with a new certification for Yin yoga on the way.

It would be impossible to count the hours and the bodies over the years. That would be like counting the minutes in all the days.

Yoga has been my natural way of being since I was a little girl.

This year I had the opportunity to open my own yoga studio and teach the yoga that I envision in an environment that I created.

I hope you will join me. I can’t wait to build a community together.

I call it travelling light. It’s a practice of holding on and letting go . . . Sometimes we hold on too long. Other times we let go too soon. The line is always there but also never there until it is drawn. I usually follow my heart and give myself to what I decide is important. That has been both a strength and a struggle. There are instances in my life where I held on too long and suffered the ramifications of that. I learned that sound of a door clicking and that feeling of needing to run for my life.

So these are my guiding principles:

I avoid rooms with no doors.
I listen to the sounds of the universe.
I practice imperfection.
And I commit 3 acts of defiance at day, at a minimum.
